KHARUPETIA HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL :
Kharupetia H.S. School was established in the Year - 1941. It is situated by National High Road - 52 and in the heart of Kharupetia Town. At first it was a High School and became under provincialization in the Year - 1977. In the year 1983 it was upgraded into Higher Secondary School by the effort of then Local M.L.A. of Dalgaon LAC and the Managing Committee of the School and Arts Stream was opened. In the Year - 1981 Science Stream and in the year 1983 Commerce Stream were opened. Kharupetia H. S. School is the only Higher Secondary School in Darrang District which has Commerce stream for students. This is a Assamese Medium Institution.
Though there are 51 Nos. Teaching and Non-teaching sanctioned posts are there in this School, presently only 37 Staffs are working and the remaining posts are vacant due to death and retirement.
Present enrollment of the School about 1300 Nos.

Higher Secondary classes has been started by the School managing Committee. Present Student enrollment is above 711 and Sanctioned teaching and non-teaching staffs in total 29 Nos. and at present 16 Nos. teacher and non-teaching staffs are working.

Due to hard works and dream in the heart Gour Chandra
Saha (Gour Babu) earned lots of money from his Pahari & Malay Biri Company.
He set up the Head Office of his Biri company at this Kharupetia. He spent
maximum his earning for the beneficial works of the public irrespective of
caste, creed, languages and religions. He found that girls faced problems to
have education in co-educational institution. So he decided to set up a Girls
school at the heart of this town for the better scope to have education for the
girls separately. Accordingly he
purchased 8 (eight) bighas of land from manowari community in the Year - 1965 at Nutanpatty.

Finally the foundation ceremony of the school was
held at the 6th April, 1966 and the foundation stone was laid by the
Hon’ble minister of Assam Mr. K.P. Tripathy along with large number high
dignitaries and attended by the public of Kharupetia. The three storied
foundation building was going to be started functioning making C.I. sheets as
roof and bamboos made fencings and floor was soil. Upto 1970 the classes were
held in the Thatch made of bamboos. In the year 1971 most probably in the month
of February the classes were held in the building when first storied was
completed.
However Gour Babu’s dream has bow come true and this
Kharupetia Town Girls’ High School has been able to draw the attention of the
visitors for its naturally beauty, students’ facilities and canteen and night
guard quarters located in a peaceful surroundings free from vehicles horns and
hue and cry of the people. This Girls’ School is one of the visiting places of
Kharupetia Town for its natural beauty, calm and cool place with six feet high
brick built wall surroundings for security.

Luit Valley High School has been a premier institution at Kharupetia imparting quality education in primary, middle and High School level since its establishment in the Year - 2000. The school was established at B.C. Surana Road, Kharupetia by a group of enthusiastic teachers grouped under the name "SARKJIMN ENTERPRISE". The school has opened a new era in education in this locality. Every year the school has shown very result in the HSLC Examination. In the year 2004, Mr. Iqbal Hussain, a student of this school, secured 18th position in the HSLC Examination (All Assam Rank). At present the school is being run by six members of the Enterprise.
