Late Dhirendra Kumar Roy was a social worker and a politician. He was well known as DHIREN BABU among the common people of this town. He father’s name was Dhaniram Roy and mother’s name Sailabala Roy. He was born on 08-06-1920 at Bhatara village in the District of Dhaka (Now Bangladesh). He read upto class IX (nine) in those days when and where educational facilities not available locally. He got married with Smt. Chhana Roy.

He was involved in business as a whole-seller of grocery goods, then got agency of Battery and Bidi. He had a rice mill also at Kharupetia. He was the one of oldest person who purchased bus and lorry for transportation in the locality.

He was the highest donor of Sailabala High School. Kharupetia Refugee School was renamed as Sailabala High School in 1962 after the name of his mother Sailabala Devi. He was also the founder of Dhaniram L.P. School which was established in the memory of his father Dhaniram.
His hard effort for the development of education among the public of this locality was praiseworthy. He was the founder member & Vice-President of Kharupetia College, later he became the President of this institution for a few years. He was the advisor & member of Sunflower English High School too.

He extended his helping hands in establishing Central Town L.P. School and Pranabananda Computer Institute at this town.

He was elected as member of Kharupetia Town Committee 4 times. He also became the Vice-Chairman and Chairman of this town. He was the advisor of Tiger Club, Kharupetia Hindu Milan Mandir, Sankardeva Namghar.He was the secretary of Kharupetia Barowary Puja Mandir.
He serves Kharupetia Mangaldai – Dalgaon Bazar Bus Association as President for long period. He was also the Advisor of All Assam Motor Transport Association and All India Motor Transport Association.

He was a freedom fighter and was imprisoned for three months. He was a member of All India National Congress and later on Congress (S) party.

For his invitation India’s famous dancer Uday Shankar came at Kharupetia with his dance troop.  Kolkata’s famous Natya Dal “NATYA COMPANY” came at Kharupetia several times only on his invitation. He had great intimacy with said Uday Sankar and Makhan Lal Natta, the proprietor of Natta Company, P.C. Sarkar (World famous magician), Dev Kumar (Magician). He had great intimancy with Sarat Chand Singha, the Ex-Chief Minister of Assam. All public and private establishments and institutions had his helping hands. 


 
He was connected with Scout & Guide and Sahitya Sabha too.


He expired on 11-06-2006 leaving 5 sons and 3 daughters. In the procession with his dead body thousands of people of this town joined and they gave him farewell for ever with their water of eyes.


So, the public of this town can never forget him, he will live always in their heart.

Mr. Datta was the Founder of Vivekananda English Medium School). Founder President and Principal of Sunflower English School. He was also the founder Principal(Hony) of Kharupetia Teachers Training College). He is adviser of Tiger Club & Hindu Milan Mandir, Kharupetia.
He served at Sailabala High School, Kharupetia & Darrang College. Now he is serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Sanskrit, KHARUPETIA COLLEGE.
He has also made some publications for the students of schools by Guide Books to inspire and make the students free from fear about sanskrit subject.
Some reference books have been published too by him. Some of them "Tantra - its relevance to modern times. (International Market), Taratantra, Dictionary named "A uniquea tri-lingual dictionary (Sanskrit - Assamese - English)

Respected Sri Pramod Ranjan Saha (Retd. Teacher & Poet)

Sri Pramod Ranjan Saha
                 Mr. Pramod Ranjan Saha is one of the Bengali speaking Assamese personalities who have been instrumental in the growth and development of Bengali language and literature in the Brahmaputra Valley by their constast literary pursuits. He has been a symbol of harmony by writing both in Bengali and Assamese language. Born on 14th January, 1944 (as per horoscope) at Kharupetia Town, in the District of Darrang (Assam), he has been enamoured of poetry since his childhood. 


                   Mr. Saha had been sent to School in 1950, the day before the dreadful earthquake occurred in Assam. Owing to illness he could not complete his education on time. In the meanwhile his father lost his earning source completely.which compelled him to join a public school as a teacher to maintain himself and his family. While working as a teacher in that school, he obtained his B.A. degree in 1976 parallel to teaching he has been busy with writing in all generes of literature both Bengali and Assamese.
  

Awards received
              

   Mr. Saha has authored as many as twenty books besides editing a few literary magazines. He has been awarded D. K. Chanda Smriti Puraskar by a Guwahati based women organisation "Paitha" in 2004. He was also confered dr. ambedkar fellowship award from Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy, New Delhi in the Year 2004. Biswa Banga Sahitya o Sanskriti Sammelan, Kolkata honoured him by confering the "Barshasera Kavir Samman" in 2005.
\Mr. Saha's poems are the revelation of the never ending day to day struggle for existance in the human world. His herses also give us the message of hope and upliftment of mankind.

             Miss Krishna Saha was born on 19th December, 1981 at Kharupetia, Nutan Patty. Her father's name is Late Ramkrishna Saha and mother Smt. Jayanti Saha, Asstt. Teacher of Sailabala High school. She has one sister and two brothers. 
               She is a graduate in Arts with Major in Education. She is also Prabin in Hindi.  

                  She have diplomas in Sangeet Pravakar in Kathak Dance, Visharad in Kathak Dance, Visharad in Vocal Dance, Diploma-holder in Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Sangeet and Visharad in Rabindra Nritya.

          From her childhood she was interested in dances and at her school days her dances attracted the attention of the family members and teachers. So after completion her graduation she joined in different courses of dance and sangeet and successfully completed the same.

           At present she is the dance teacher of Mitali Sangeet Vidyala and Tiger Club Sangeet Vidyalayan and giving training the girls and boys of this locality. Her students of those music schools join in different functions and competitions of dances and achieve praises of the audience and judges as well as win prizes. 

         She is a National and International Award Holder in Kathak Dance. My heartily greetings for her.

A social worker, actor, director and producer of Dramas through ameture club. He acted in a number of dramas, also directed some of them. He was well known as a good director of dramas. He acted at Vibakananda Jatra Samaj, Mitali Natya Samaj, Ramkrishna Young emeture, Agradut Emeture etc.

Pradip Sarkar (Padu) was born at Kharupetia Town, Rabindra Pally,  in the Year - 1969. His father's name Late Jatinadra Mohan Sarkar. He is an Arts Graduate and serving at Kharupetia Town Committee. 

           From his early days he has been engaged himself in various sports. During school days he joined different football and crictet matches. While he was a student Mangaldai College, he played both football and cricket in many college arranged competitions. In 1995 he got District Selection as a football player in favour of Mangaldai United Club. He joined and played many cricket and football competitions/tournaments and won trophy. The he had to go Sibasagar, Morigaon, Tezpur, Kokrajhar and other towns as a player.He also went out of Assam for playing football and cricket. At school he had been Games Secretary for a year.He is also a qualified Football Referee and Cricket Umpire. Hi is also coaching the youths of this town for football and cricket. In the morning he is running a coaching class of YOG near Tilapatty Durga Mandir.
